When it does, all instances of that symbol are removed from the screen, and the wild portal multiplier increases by 1.

In this new configuration, empty spaces on the screen are filled with symbols from above, leading to possible winning combinations. The portal's multiplier is applied to this win. The portal can change and show another symbol, which repeats the process until there are no winning combinations.
